I took this photo in Patacancha, about an hour drive from Ollantaytambo. The women in the community were learning how to dye the wool they use naturally. This girl was waiting for her mother to finish. For more information on this subject, check awamaki.org.

The hats of Quechua women denote their status. The bright colors and strikingly geometric designs make for fantastic subjects. This woman was watching the dances from the steps of the ruins in Ollantaytambo.
